Sergey Zakharov (born May 1, 1950) is a Russian singer who has a rare lyrical baritone.〔(Biography in Russian )〕 Zakharov was born May 1, 1950 in Mykolaiv (Russian: Nikolayev) in the Ukraine in a military family. In 1971 he entered the operetta department of the Gnessin State Musical College in Moscow in the class of Margarita Josephovna Landa,〔Ланда Маргарита Иосифовна (1.03.1928 – 29.09.2009)〕 and while still a student became the soloist of the State Variety Orchestra〔Государственный эстрадний оркестр〕 conducted by Leonid Utyosov.
